Enjoy free arts and crafts for kids, holiday drinks and snacks, and take a tour of Frederick's oldest house, a National Historic Landmark, and the Sugarloaf Mountain area's first church consecrated in1802.
While at Schifferstadt, consider exploring the Gift Shop and our Christkindlesmarkt for an opportunity to do some of your holiday shopping. You'll find a selection of period toys, paraphernalia, and books that could make for unique and thoughtful gifts.

This popular self-guided tour showcases Frederick County's agricultural heritage and the architecture of historic barns. Barn docents will greet ticket holders at each barn location to share information and answer questions. Visitors will observe plein air artists painting the beautiful scenery around the barns, and demonstrators will be showing farm life skills and tools.

From 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m., tour goers are invited to the host barn, which will be identified in the ticket booklet, for a judged art show and art sale. Old time string band, Gravy Soppers, will entertain our visitors as they enjoy the art display and food trucks. From 12 noon -5 p.m., food trucks at the host barn will serve delicious BBQ, cold drinks, and hand dipped ice cream.

Step back in time to the era that spawned the war for independence. See the 1758 home of Elias Brunner, a pioneer settler who helped track violations of the trade embargo with Britain and whose descendants fought in Washington’s army. The family that escaped political oppression in the Old World was not about to accept it in their New World.

Colonial era games for all ages, food and drink (including German adult beverages). House tours, of course.

We warmly invite you to join us for a delightful gathering of members, friends, docents, and volunteers.
The meeting will include a State of the Organization from President Jennie Russell, an update on activities at the Beatty-Cramer House, a vote on the amended FCLF Bylaws, and election of officers.

Light refreshments will be served as we reflect upon Landmarks' fifty-first year of operation. Donations are always appreciated.

Popular Seminar Series Returns: Getting a Plaque for Your Historic Home

The Frederick County Landmarks Foundation is bringing back a popular free series of how-to seminars on how to obtain a plaque for a historic home. Five seminars are planned from July to September at public libraries around the county.
​
At each event, staff from the Frederick County Public Library’s Maryland Room, which specializes in local history, will introduce the basics of how to document your home’s past. Volunteers from the Landmarks Foundation will also be on hand to answer questions.
