How to Apply to Be a 2026 Barnstormers Plein Air Artist:

​The Barnstormers Plein Air Paint Out is a unique opportunity to enjoy Plein Air painting on private historic Frederick County farmland.  Traditionally held the second Saturday of June, we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary next year, 2027.

If accepted, you will receive your painting location the morning of the event. You will have approximately 5 hours to complete as many pieces as you wish. Your composition is any farm life/property of your choice. Afterwards you present one of your artworks to be juried (5 Best of Show) for the Art Show and Sale at a designated Host location. However, you may display and sell all the works you complete as this has become a popular event for collectors and visitors of the tour. (Detailed emails to follow once accepted.)

Due to size, there is limited entry participation. Acceptance is based on the postmark date of the mailed completed application with a non-refundable check of $35.00 made out to FCLF (Frederick County Landmarks Foundation). 

Once received, an email will be sent to confirm your application status. There will be a waiting list for the possible opportunity of late acceptance, as accepted painters sometimes may withdraw.​
